ABOUT WORK
Takis is a bold and edgy snack brand known for its ultra-spicy rolled tortilla chips and intense marketing strategies. Their advertising often features celebrity endorsements, vibrant visuals, and over-the-top humor, appealing primarily to a teenage demographic through flavor challenges and viral campaigns.
To broaden the brand’s appeal, I explored concepts that infused Takis’ signature intensity with surreal, humorous storytelling. One idea featured Takis chips so spicy they could end entire eras—like melting the Ice Age and transforming prehistoric creatures into their modern forms. Another took a narrative approach, placing characters in mundane detective scenarios with the twist of Takis dust as the incriminating clue.
We selected a concept that captured the core of Takis’ brand: fearless, absurd, and fun. The campaign features illustrated Takis characters in extreme scenarios—surfing with sharks, lifting weights as babies, and riding mopeds up treacherous terrain. The visuals embraced Takis’ existing color palette and dynamic energy while offering fresh ways to visualize its intensity.
